Just give up the illusion that you're going to win There will be no confusion 'cause you're gonna give in I see your body moving and it can't be ignored You move a little harder but I think I want more It's time to feel the beat in my skin The people keep on begging me to give in To the way that they want to move Too many people trying to tell you what to do
Pushing open the dinning room door, Kaede was so shocked by the sight that greeted her eyes, the signature polite curve that always graced her lips had almost dropped. The keyword being almost, since she had quickly gathered her thoughts before the emotion had a chance to rise to the surface.
“Sweetie, why are you just standing there?” the woman sitting at one end of long mahogany table spoke, waving her hand slowly and elegantly at her daughter to bid her over with a warm smile. “Come and sit down, lunch is almost served.”
“Good day, otousama, okaasama~ what a pleasant surprise!” not. The young girl smiled her usual, cheerful smile before making her way towards the seat positioned at the middle of the table.
Seeing both of her parents gather around the dinning table during lunch was an extremely rare sight for the young Akihara Kaede, since it was uncommon for them to even show up for dinner at the same time due to all of the business they had to attend to. “What a pleasant surprise! Is there a special occasion that I’m not aware of?” the daughter asked curiously, head inclining towards the direction of her mother. No, that was a lie. She was perfectly happy with enjoying her lunch alone like the way it was suppose to be and had been for all of these years.
“Oh, dear, don’t make it sound like we never have time for you. Why does there need to be a reason for parents wanting to spend time with their child? And such a lovely one at that?” Mrs. Akihara chirped again, giggling with a hand covering her mouth like a proper lady.
Um, because you never did? Kaede did a mental eye roll and thought sarcastically, while maintaining her perfect manners on the exterior, even forcing a small blush and she spoke. “okaasan, you’re making me blush!”
The rest of the lunch went by peacefully, filled with occasional small talks and a funny story here and there. Almost like a lunch you’d see with a normal family. But the Akiharas were anything but normal. They were born actors, playing their roles to perfection in a show called life. Her parents would never do anything as pointless and time wasting as eating lunch with their daughter when they could spend it on more influential characters. as long as she acted like the perfect daughter in the public they couldn’t care less about her feelings. or mental health for that matter. They are politicians, after all. So there must be a catch to all this. Kaede waited patiently, acting along with her parents’ little play.
“Kaede,” the girl smirked in her head as her father finally spoke when their family lunch was near the end. here it comes. “do you have anything important planned for this afternoon?”
She dabbed her mouth with a clean napkin and shook her head lightly, “No, otou-sama. Why do you ask?” |
She had been long finished with her school work, including her share of paperwork as the student council treasurer. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t find anything else to make the afternoon productive. “There is… a young man we would like you to meet.” Said her mother, “you mustn’t refuse, sweetie, getting along with him might be beneficial to your father and I.” Of course it would be, Kaede thought sarcastically. Honestly though she had been expecting this, since arranged marriage isn’t uncommon amongst the upper class and she had been so sure her parents would take full advantage of having a daughter of the right age. Personally she wasn’t against idea, but it didn't mean she would be willing to go along with it if the other person in this relationship would not be any benefit to her in the future. “Of course not, okaasama.” She smiled sweetly and the older woman. “does this young man have a name?”You’ll know when you meet him was the only hint she was given. So, two hours later, here she was, sitting in the cafe by herself while trying to figure out the identity of this mystery man while sipping on her cup of London fog. She had purposely arrived around 10 minutes earlier than the arranged three o’clock. She thought she would use the extra time to mentally prepare herself for whoever her date was suppose to be, since she couldn’t pry it out of her parents beforehand. Not knowing things always irked the young Akihara, it was almost like a pet peeve of hers. It was the weekend so most places were quite busy and populated as usual. But this cafe was designed in a manner that even if fully seated, each table would still have enough privacy, making it a popular destination for students, especially ones within the upper class. She gracefully sipped from her teacup once more, tilting her head to observe the passerby from her window seat until she spotted a familiar ravenette amongst the crowd. The possibility that flashed through her mind almost made Kaede want to giggle for the silliness of the idea. Her parents wouldn’t possibly arrange her to meet with an Ichihara, would they? Takashi's uncle explained throwing a jab at the boy. Naturally he ducked the punch and hit him with a hook to the rib cage knocking the wind out of him a bit.
"THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL, that I'm about to go out on a date with a freaking Akihara. What the hell is wrong with you people?" Takashi said slowly backing up now that his father entered the room.
"You don't have much choice in this son. I'm sorry but you'll have to do it. It's all for the family image. Military leaders have their offspring date politican's children all the time." Ichiro said actually pointing an M4 rifle at this son. Looks like Takashi was in between a rock and a hard place. Ever wonder where Taka got his pragmatic behaviour from, well it came from both his father and his uncle. With no exit strategy in mind since this was completely out of the blue for Takashi, he had to surrender. It was very well known that the Ichihara's and the Akihara's did not like each other. Of course that didn't mean they were going to bring their private squablles in public or prehaps this side of the Ichihara family were on good terms with that side of the Akihara family. Whatever the case may be, Takashi was now forced to go on a date with someone who tried to take over the discplinary committee from him. Akihara Kaede was someone who had enough skill to best him tactically and while that DID give some sort of twisted attraction towards her, she was still very much the god damn enemy here. Just why the hell would his family even do this to him, it was like a betryal of the highest magnitude.
The boy after about an hour was already ready for this living hell. Takashi's mother wasn't home so he couldn't beg her to let him not go. That meant he gave both his father and his uncle an angry glare. Before they ushered him off into a car that the Akihara's chartered for him to get there, his father gave him a few words of advice.
"I know you hate me right now but listen, tactically you can get into her head, you just have to know what's real and what is an act. Act as interested in her as possible, make sure you win a second date with her, and most importantly, make her want you. In your terms, defy the impossible." Ichiro said and Takashi nodded with the prospect of trying to gain the uppering hand in this little tactics war. If only it wasn't so DAMN impossible. With a grim look walking to the car, he slowly entered the backseat that the chauffer graciously pulled out for him.
"I'm just letting you know sir, if this is a trap, I'm armed." Takashi said with a grin causing the chauffer to close the door with a faint smile on his face. Honestly those people in the East really lived the high life. Chauffers to pick up and drop you off at a fancy cafe. Personally Takashi enjoyed the middle class life but he could really get accustomed to being rich. Perhaps that was the real goal of all this. To get some sort of gain or maybe Takashi was over thinkin g things. Whatever the case may be, he'd find out eventually.
Once the boy reached the crowded cafe, he began forcing his way through the crowd of people somehow manging to find that girl he disliked so. Taking a seat opposite of her. He tried his hardest to smile.
"Lovely to see you again Kaede"

Just give up the illusion that you're going to win There will be no confusion 'cause you're gonna give in I see your body moving and it can't be ignored You move a little harder but I think I want more It's time to feel the beat in my skin The people keep on begging me to give in To the way that they want to move Too many people trying to tell you what to do
The youngest Akihara watched throw the window as the Hyaku student stepped out of a very familiar car, and started making his way towards the cafe. Kaede lifted her gaze from the street, acting as if she didn’t notice the boy coming in just in case it was one big coincidence. But all of the doubts about her previous guess were wiped clean when the tactician sat himself down in the seat before her with a greeting.
No, the expression on his face lacked a certain element of surprise for it to be an accident.
“Lovely indeed, Takashi-kun.” Kaede greeted him with a bright smile. “It has been a while since we spoke to each other, has it not? How have you been? Would you like something to drink?” She raised a hand to bid over the waiter.
So, this is what it’s all about. The girl thought as she finally understood her parents’ motive behind this little arrangement. They had finally decided to make their moves on the military, huh… The Akiharas were known for their influence in politics, the way they could easily make the publics’ sway with mere speeches. Words were their greatest weapon, after all. But unbeknownst to many, they also held their fair share of involvement with the underground business. But yakuzas were… well, yakuzas. They were great for taking care of certain matters, but having their relationship with gangs made public could do great damage to the reputation of politicians. The militaries, however, would be a much more legitimate force to have on their side.
It wasn’t that difficult – well, not for the Akihara anyways – to tell that the boy didn’t exactly came on his own free will. And it wasn’t difficult to figure out the reasons behind it either. Simply put, Kaede’s attempt former attempts to overthrow Takashi in the disciplinary committee when she was attending hyaku posing as a boy. did not sit well with him. It was really just something to keep her entertained so she won’t be rusty when acting on a much larger scale, or at least that was what she originally planned. When the senior somehow succeeded to foil her plans over and over again, it sort of became … their thing, for the lack of a better term.
She propped an elbow on the table and proceeded to rest her chin lightly on the back of her hand, the other hand casually stirring the cup with a silver teaspoon. “You seem to be quite tense, Takashi-kun. Relax, I don’t bite.” Said the blonde, her signature smile tinted with amusement, “If the idea of being on a date with me really upset you that much, we can always pretend that I’m still just another male students at Hyaku.” Although it might be quite hard with her in a pink dress and all.
Although she was very, very tempted to suggest that they just spend some time together and inform their family that they got along swell, Kaede had to admit having a good relationship with the Ichiharas would be very favorable on her part. So she was willing to go along with this just for the publicity.
And arguably the most important reason, the look on Hanazaki Nagisa’s face when she hears the news. Her male best friend going on a date with the girl she labeled as her mortal enemy. It was a shame that she most likely won’t be there to witness it, but the sheer idea of a furious and very much disturb student council president added a hint of genuineness in little actor’s smile.
Now, what is it that normal teenagers do on a date…

That only infuriated Takashi but at the same time interested him. Just what was really going through her head? Was she trying to figure out just why she was in this situation or did she know? Improve the family image? Could that really be the true meaning behind all of this? Even then why with the Akihara's? There were tons of other politician families out there. So many questions that needed to be answered yet there probably wouldn't be enough answers for these questions.
"I've been great. I'm just confused as to why we're both here. Still a drink would be lovely, I'll haunt you if it kills me." Takashi said attempting to laugh naturally. He was truly trying his best to keep his cool. The boy didn't go on dates, worst it was with his enemy so he was double nervous. Looking past the fact that she was pretty much a bitch in the words of most guys, she was freaking cute. Still he couldn't fall for that. No he knew that she was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Getting mesmerized by her fake smile or those pretty blue orbs for eyes that she had was not acceptable by any means! Yet why was his head feeling fuzzy and his mind going blank as if...he was truly feeling relaxed. Was it really okay to let his guard down now? For now, he was still armed so he'd be okay.
With her teasing of him being tense, he fully became relaxed and the smile on his face became more natural. To seem more date like, he stared into her eyes still keeping that smile on his face.
"Ahaha. No need for that now. I just don't really go out with girls like that so I'm just a bit nervous. You are very pretty after all." Takashi said honestly. Even though he was telling the truth, he wanted to throw the hell up. A big fear of Takashi's was that some of his close friends would find him here with her. Nagisa would not forgive him and Chihiro would probably put him out of his misery. Yare Yare, this was quite unfortunate.
Once the waiter finally made their way over to the table, Takashi ordered his drink and once again paid his attention to Kaede. Well it's not like he had much of a choice in this situation. To be bounded to such a person because their families were stupid. Oh yeah that was something to truly look forward to for the rest of his life. No, Takashi wasn't thinking ahead stupidly. Nay, he was currently anticipating the movements of both families and somewhere along the lines, the two teens would probably be stuck with each other until death does them part. He hoped that wouldn't be the case, especially since he kind of liked someone else but would NEVER admit that in a million years. He was probably better off being stuck with the Akihara girl than having to drag her into the ridicule and scorn of his family should he disobey their orders.
"So Kaede-Chan. How have you been? Oh and tell me it dropping the facade, I know most of your tricks by now. It's how I've bested you so far."[/color[

Just give up the illusion that you're going to win There will be no confusion 'cause you're gonna give in I see your body moving and it can't be ignored You move a little harder but I think I want more It's time to feel the beat in my skin The people keep on begging me to give in To the way that they want to move Too many people trying to tell you what to do
“Takashi-kun, just what kind of girl do you take me for?” The female smiled innocently at the dark-haired male’s accusation. “Say I am actually plotting to take your life, don’t you think you deserve a death much more elaborate and impressive than food poisoning?”
If poison is all it takes to get rid of the Ichihara, she would have taken care of him a long time ago.
The Akihara decided to play it accordingly, going for a more casual feel since her date didn’t seem to pair well with propriety. Being a little playful and understanding could never do her wrong, and takashi did ease up a bit just like she expected. Though the boy’s sudden compliment and honesty was a slight shock for Kaede, though she only smiled wider. From what she knew, he spent a rather great amount of time with female friends, namely Tanemura and the two Hanazakis. But then again, they had known one another quite for quite a while, and two of the three could be easily mistaken as boys if one just judge by their behavior. Maybe that was the reason why there was never any problem of this sort between them. She mused as the male made his order. This – they – could be something she might have to take into consideration if there was any need for her to continue this relationship in the future.
The next few lines that came out of the Ichihara’s lips had the girl blinking in awe, before suddenly dropping her head slightly and let out a low snicker. Half covered by fallen bangs, Kaede’s pale blue eyes was clearly filled with glee as she raised her head to meet his gaze once again. a subtle tinge of arrogance and indifference had seeped through her signature refined smile.“Ara~ I am quite flattered that you know me so well, Takashi-kun.” said the girl as she brushed a strand of loose lock back it its proper place, before resuming to her previous pose. “But I’m afraid that is a wish I cannot grant, at least not with other audiences around. I am a duteous actor, after all, you must understand.” She replied with a faint lift on the lips, tapping her finger on the window silently then swirled it around, suggesting the possibility of watchful eyes around them. She didn’t know about the Ichiharas, but knowing the ways of her parents, she really wouldn’t be so ignorant to put it pass them on setting someone up to spy on their daughter’s date. Especially one that had a chance of influencing them greatly.
“Nevertheless, if you’re indeed so eager to see the real me behind the facade – as you put it – we could always move this conversation elsewhere later on. I’d be much more comfortable with it if it’s just us two.” The blonde suggested nonchalantly, leaning in slightly with her eyes half-lit. The simple thought of her actions being monitored by others brought a metaphorical frown to her face. Even if said others were her parents. Kaede did not like the idea of herself acting as other people’s pawn. A long list of possible locations started popping into her head before the presence of a follower was even confirmed, but Kaede halted the train of thought before she got carried away with it.
Then she beamed charmingly, as if none of the earlier words was even spoken. “Oh, silly me, getting off track like this!” She chuckled lightheartedly, straightening herself in her seat. “Everything has been going just wonderfully. But it gets a bit boring after a while, if you know what I mean. Nothing story-worthy, really. So how are you doing lately?”
