He has an older brother who is off at college and two younger siblings, male and female. He gets along fairly well with both of his parents but they are divorced. Makoto and his younger siblings live with his mother. Makoto, after joining Hyaku, has become very politically minded. He is the vice-president of the student council and has been since his junior year. His childhood was quite well to do although he rarely did things that middle-class children did. He doesn't know how to ride a bike or swim because it never was explained that he should know how. His parents are usually both very busy with their jobs and private lives, leaving Makoto to be the primary caregiver of his younger siblings for most of his teenage life. But, he's always had the help of nannies, maids and the like. He's never one to complain about his life because he's never had any real hardship.
